About The Band...WHO IS SUG’R BEAR….? A 2nd Family. Sug’r Bear was formed in 1992 when lead singer Cyndi Anderson’s husband, Shane, contacted drummer Jeff Carrier to form a band in order to compete in a national music competition. At the time, Jeff was taking some time off from playing and really wasn’t interested in playing a lot – he was assured this was a “one time thing” for a local then possibly national band competition. Some members have come and gone, but guess what…Jeff and Cyndi are still here – 14 years later! The first two years saw the band performing in clubs and bars all over Pennsylvania. In 1994 Sug’r Bear became a member of the PA Association of County Fairs, where they have been a member in good standing ever since. The band now spends their summers traveling across Pennsylvania entertaining at County Fairs, Festivals, Amusement Parks and Homecoming Celebrations. They have won several awards over the years and in 2002, at a nationally judged competition, finished 3rd in the PA-NY-NJ Tri-State area. They have opened shows for Toby Keith, Ronnie Milsap, T. Graham Brown, Doug Supernaw, Ty England, John Anderson, Ronnie McDowell and appeared with Diamond Rio. Oh Yeah…the 2nd Family thing…Sug’r Bear has a total of 12 children between them ranging in age from 12 months to 21 years (we won’t tell you who has the oldest and youngest)! When Hannah, daughter of drummer Jeff Carrier, was born, she was held, changed, fed and pushed around in a baby buggy by all the band members. Hannah now performs with those same band members! They play together as a group of excellent musicians, they socialize as good friends, and they watch out for each other….like a 2nd Family. Get to know us! Take a tour of our personal gallery.
